Thomas Meggle (* 22 February 1975 in Munich ) is a German entrepreneur and former German
Football player and current FIFA coach and sports official . Meggle played for TSV 1860 Munich , FC St. Pauli and Hansa Rostock in the first and second Bundesliga as well as in the Regionalliga Nord (third division). He successfully runs companies in the construction industry.
In addition to 75 Bundesliga matches (11 goals), he played 92 matches in the 2. Bundesliga (18 goals) and 51 Regionalliga matches (16 goals).[1] His greatest successes as a player were with FC St. Pauli, with whom he achieved promotion to the Bundesliga twice and to the 2. Bundesliga once, and reached the semi-finals of the DFB Cup in 2005/06.[2] He last played for FC St. Pauli in central midfield from the 2005/06 season and ended his professional career there after the 2009/10 season.[3] In 2010, he was selected for FC St. Pauli's 100th Anniversary Team.[4]
In the 2000/01 season, he played as a playmaker, contributing to FC St. Pauli's promotion to the Bundesliga. With 70 goals, FC St. Pauli was the most prolific team in German professional football that season. [5] [6] Meggle contributed 13 of these goals, and was only surpassed by Marcel Rath in FC St. Pauli's internal goalscoring statistics. [7] In the following 2001/02 season, he was FC St. Pauli's most prolific scorer with ten goals and four assists. [8] These goals included his opening goal in the Intercontinental Cup Winners' Cup match (final score 2-1) against FC Bayern Munich . [9]
